Taxpayers, Traveling and Dennis Moore

Dennis Moore is no friend to the taxpayer. He is on record as being one of the architects of the budget that paves the way for the largest tax hike in American history. (Here's the vote.)

Recently, his taxpayer waste has taken a whole new form. In the last couple of months, Moore has been traveling all over the world on the taxpayer’s dime.

This week he is on a trip to an “undisclosed location” which his office can’t release for “security reasons.” As the Kansas City Star Buzz Blog pointed out, “...Congressional rules on such trips are meant to keep constituents from knowing their congressman is on a taxpayer-paid junket. But then again, maybe he’s working his fingers to the bone in Paris or Geneva or London...” (Read the whole story here.)

Previously, Moore has been to the Greek Islands and Cyprus for an official trade mission, a few weeks later he was back on “official business” visiting Zagreb, Croatia; Brussels, Belgium; and Paris, France.

What we are wondering is this: Could all these “official” trips be payback for being the most partisan member of the Kansas delegation and Moore’s unfailing loyalty to the liberal Speaker, Nancy Pelosi? We will leave the decision up to you.
