For regular readers of the blog, it will come as no surprise that we have made an issue out of the Governor’s travel schedule recently—particularly during the Legislative session when she was absent while the Republicans led the state on the people’s business.
In light of the fact that she is in North Carolina today raising money for Obama, we are wondering what exactly the Governor is trying to hide with the use of her plane. Keep in mind that you, the taxpayers of Kansas, fund all of this travel—you paid for the plane, the gas, the pilots, the airport fees, and the maintenance and upkeep.
Instead of being accountable to the people who elected her and are footing the bill for her excursions, she hides it. Why?
The website www.flightaware.com tracks public information on various aircraft flights, and maintains a history of it. When you put in the correct tail number for the Governor’s plane (N350KS), you get this explanation, “STATE OF KANSAS (TOPEKA KS). This flight is not available for tracking per request from the owner/operator.” Check it out for yourself.
Sometimes, businesses will keep this information secret so their competition doesn’t know where the executives are visiting. But the Governor is accountable to the people of Kansas for her activities.
We are curious, what’s the big secret?
