Yesterday, started off with Congressman Todd Tiahrt speaking at the morning breakfast. Congressman Tiahrt discussed energy issues and explained the issues surrounding the Boeing Tanker Deal, and how he is fighting to make sure those jobs stay in Wichita, Kansas.
The Kansas delegation was excited to welcome Senator Bob Dole to the convention with a reception, hosted by Cerner, honoring the former Majority Leader and Republican Presidential Nominee. Several hundred delegates, alternates, and guests gathered at our hotel to join with Senator Sam Brownback (KS), former Senator Fred Thompson (TN), former Senator Jack Danforth (MO), Congressman Todd Tiahrt (KS), and Congressman and Missouri Gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof to honor the former Senator from Kansas. As always, Senator Dole brought down the house with his talk on health care reform, and his attacks on Barack Obama.
After the reception, the delegation headed to the Xcel Center to hear from Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and the Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Governor Palin rocked the house last night as she received a huge welcome when she walked out on the platform. By all accounts, the delegation was thrilled with what they heard.
Kansas delegates were also excited to hear from Carolyn Dunn, an owner of a small farm in Stafford County, Kansas. Carolyn discussed agriculture issues and the challenges of small farm owners.
Tonight, we are all looking forward to hearing from Senator McCain as he formally accepts his nomination as the Republican nominee for President.
From Minnesota,
