Barack Obama doesn't want you to own a gun
Earlier today, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Washington, DC gun ban was unconstitutional.
Party Chairman Kris Kobach had this to say:
“This decision confirms what I have long believed, in my years of research as a Professor of Constitutional Law: that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms held by all law-abiding adult citizens, that the DC ban on handguns is unconstitutional, and that requiring people to keep their guns in the home disabled is also unconstitutional.”
“James Madison, who wrote the words of the Second Amendment, would be proud. Justice Scalia’s opinion for the majority nailed it exactly, perfectly expressing the meaning of the right to keep and bear arms.”
"The only troubling thing about the decision is that there were four dissenters. The American people were one vote away from losing one of their most precious constitutional rights. This shows just how important it is to elect a Republican President and Republican Senators to ensure that Justices are appointed who will stick to the original meaning of the Constitution."
Since Obama stated, “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns,” we have some questions.
1. How can Obama campaign to be President knowing he will have to take an oath to uphold the Constitution, when he is clearly at odds with it on this vital issue?
Here's what Obama had to say about the gun ban.
2. Will this change Sebelius’ support of Obama?
No. Kathleen Sebelius has continuously stomped on our Constitutional rights in Kansas by opposing and vetoing reasonable legislation intended to protect our 2nd Amendment rights.
During her time as Governor she has vetoed common-sense gun legislation and steadfastly refused to support the 2nd Amendment. (Veto Message on HB 2528, April 13, 2007 and Veto Message on SB 418, March 26, 2006)
This is just another example of how Kathleen Sebelius is completely out of step with everyday Kansans and Americans regarding the 2nd Amendment.
This decision makes the November elections even more important. John McCain is a steadfast supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Voters will be faced with a choice—Senator John McCain, who has been a steadfast supporter of the 2nd Amendment, or Barack Obama arguably the most anti-gun candidate in our history.
What kind of change will you vote for?

Sebelius and Fear Mongering
In comments published today on the Kansas City Star Prime Buzz Blog, Kathleen Sebelius clearly demonstrated that she is just another Democrat who is frustrated with Republican’s, in part because of the weakness of her own party’s nominee for President.
This is what Party Executive Director Christian Morgan had to say:
“Comments attributed to Sebelius stated, ‘...He’s not qualified, he’s somebody who should scare you. He’s too liberal...’ and she is exactly right. Obama has been rated as the most liberal Senator in the nation; he was a state senator 4 years ago who didn’t vote on any tough issue that came across his desk; and he has already made numerous contradictions on his proposed foreign policy positions. It all adds up to change we can’t afford.
“We thought the Governor was above partisan politics and claimed to be above the party rhetoric. Instead, we see with these comments that she is no different then any other Democrat running for higher office.”
“Her wild claims and accusations are below a sitting Governor. Rhetoric like this comes from Jesse Jackson, not the Governor of Kansas. Fear mongering and tactics such as these are the problem with politicians who have their eye on higher office. Knowing Obama can’t win on the issues, Sebelius decides to say anything to get attention.”

Earth Justice League and...Aquaman?
Don't forget, tomorrow the Earth Justice League is getting together in Denver, Colorado to honor their favorite left-wing Governor, Kathleen Sebelius.
Click here to find out more information about this liberal hootenanny.
It's nice to know the Governor gets a Thursday off. She has been working so hard improving her national political stature and campaigning for Barack Obama, she must need the middle-of-the-week break in Denver to speak to an environmentalist group whose members may include...Aquaman?
In spite of Sebelius' absence and lack of leadership, we will continue to work in Kansas to make this state better.
That's the biggest difference in the upcoming elections this year. Republicans care about Kansans, we care about building the economy, bringing good paying jobs to the state, and working on healthcare solutions that will benefit every Kansan.
Democrats, on the other hand, seem to care more about their own political careers and national ambitions. (See Sebelius, Parkinson, Moore, Boyda.) That's not the kind of change we need.
You want things done in the state of Kansas? Vote Republican. Pure and simple. Click here to find out more.

Funny Boyda Blog Takes Shot at Trunkline
Democrats tend to be pretty proud of their blogging abilities, but those abilities are usually taken with a grain of salt by most people, and here is just one of the reasons:
A so called “anonymous” Democrat blog—one that is written by Democrat Party Staff and the Nancy Boyda campaign, recently called us out for being "stupid," and “chicken” for not allowing comments.
Just to offer this blog a point of clarification, you can post comments on our blog. You can’t post anonymous comments, and you have to register before you do so. Naturally, this “anonymous” blog would have a problem with that since they are, well, anonymous.
Evidently Democrats in Kansas have nothing better to do than take other blogs to task for telling the truth. As soon as this Democrat blog is willing to step out behind their anonymity, we will be happy to engage them. Until then, we will keep relaying to you the facts about Nancy Boyda, Dennis Moore, Jim Slattery, and Kathleen Sebelius. It’s too bad this blog doesn’t have anything substantial to argue with, if they did, I’m sure they wouldn’t need to name call other blogs.

It took them 125 days
On Friday, Nancy Boyda and Dennis Moore flip-flopped on important national security legislation. For the last 125 days, new terrorist chatter has gone unmonitored because of Democrats in Congress.
Here’s what party chairman, Kris Kobach, had to say.
On Moore:
"Once again, residents of the Third District are witnessing Dennis Moore's chameleon-like behavior. Moore originally voted against bringing this bill to the floor for debate. However, now that he is concerned about appearing 'soft on terror' in an election year, he decides to support the bill. I just hope he doesn't change his position again if this bill isn't enacted."
"This is just another example of Moore's political posturing. On many issues in the past, he has taken contradictory positions, voting one way but telling voters something completely different. Residents of the Third District deserve a Member of Congress who is consistent in what he says and does. It's time for a change."
And on Boyda:
"While I'm pleased that Boyda has finally seen the light, Kansans should not forget the absurd remarks she made on the subject only four months ago. Boyda originally voted against this bill; and at the time she had the audacity to call the Kansas GOP 'damn liars' for pointing out the flaws in her position. After four months, under pressure from both the Kansas Republican Party and her constituents, Nancy Boyda finally voted to protect the American people. I'd like to think that she's had a true change of heart; but it's more likely that she's switched her vote for purely political reasons."
"Now that her re-election is in doubt, she flip-flopped-showing that doesn't really know where she stands on the most important issue facing Americans today. We won't let the people of the 2nd District forget that Boyda originally opposed giving the federal government the tools necessary to secure America against threats of terrorism. The residents of the 2nd District deserve to have a Member of Congress who will vote the right way from the start."

Chapter 2: Where in the world is Kathleen Sebelius?
Friends,
This is possibly the best "Where in the World" we will post ever.
The Governor, as usual, will be speaking at her home and favorite state of Ohio on Saturday for the Ohio Democratic Party. If you are in the area, go check it out, should be some good Obama surrender-tax increase-blame Bush rhetoric. Here are the details
This is the best one. Kathleen Sebelius is the headliner for the Earth Justice (League?)! You can't make this up folks. Go here for the details of the event.
Great line from the website: Earthjustice: Because the earth needs a good lawyer. Seriously? Really? Earth Justice League. One can assume Aquaman is a member.
Stay tuned...I'm sure the Governor will enlighten us with more fantastic trips and speaking engagements outside of Kansas.

To serve a cause greater than one's self
John McCain has said, “I believe in the greatness of this nation as a beacon of goodwill throughout the world. My friends, each and every one of us has a duty to serve a cause greater than our own self-interest."
The Republican National Convention is using these words as a call for Americans to make a difference in their communities, nation, and the world. The CEO of the National Convention, Maria Cino, recently wrote an op-ed along these lines. You can read it here.
As part of this initiative, the 2008 Republican National Convention has launched the American Neighbor YouTube contest, with the winner receiving a trip to the National Convention in September. Here is John McCain Campaign Manager Rick Davis introducing the contest.

Where is Nancy Boyda's common-sense plan for gas prices?
Gas is $3.91 per gallon. What is Nancy Boyda doing?
When Boyda took office in January 2006, she and her Democrat leadership promised a “commonsense plan” to our rising energy costs. It’s now been 17 months and there is still no plan.
Where is the Democrat leadership’s plan? When Boyda was elected, gas was at $1.72/gallon. Today, on the Kansas turnpike, gas was $3.91/gallon, a stunning $2.19/gallon increase.
Yet, Boyda and her Democrat colleagues still have no plan. In fact, she is actually voting against debating any amendment aimed at reducing the cost of gas. (House Roll Call 370 and 380)
Boyda is so out of touch with what we, as every day Kansans, are paying at the pump, she thinks that gas prices have risen only 30 percent! Check it out on her website.
On Boyda’s watch, gas prices in Kansas have gone from $2.15 to $3.91 – that is an 80 percent increase in prices, not 30 percent.
Not only has Ms. Boyda failed to do anything about gas prices (something she promised in 2006), but she can't even tell us what the price is today! How can we trust that the Democratic Representative from the 2nd District will help lower the cost of gas when she doesn’t know what it is?
In November, it's time to vote for someone who will pay attention to what's happening in the 2nd District.

Barack Obama: The September 10th Candidate
In last week's Boumediene decision, the United State Supreme Court effectively gave habeas corpus rights to terrorists detained in Guantanamo Bay--a decision Senator McCain has called “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.”
Barack Obama disagrees with Senator McCain and believes terrorists should be awarded the same Constitutional protections as the Americans they are working so hard to kill. Couple Obama's endorsement of this horrible Supreme Court decision with his already weak national security and anti-terrorism policies, you have a candidate who is not ready to protect American citizens.
This is a post-September 11th world, and Barack Obama is a September 10th Candidate.
National Review has a thoughtful piece regarding Barack Obama's new candidate status, click here to read it.
This article does a good job of explaining why Obama, as the September 10th candidate, is unprepared to be Commander-in-Chief. Even Senator Clinton raised this question in her infamous 3 A.M. ad.
We can not afford a potential Commander-in-Chief who fails to understand the most basic parts of securing America. Barack Obama is clearly living in a pre-September 11th world which begs the question: Would Barack Obama give habeas corpus rights to Osama Bin Laden?
Based on his previous answers, we can assume the answer would be "yes."

Governor's Approval Ratings Drop, again
Yesterday, a poll released by Rasmussen Reports showed that the Govenor's approval ratings have plumetted 17 points since earlier this year.
You can read the whole report here.
Additionally, Kansans thought Kathleen Sebelius selling a reception to political backer and notorious abortionist, Dr. George Tiller, was inappropriate. Only 37 percent of voters thought the reception at the taxpayer-funded Governor’s Mansion was acceptable. Nearly half, 44 percent, said it should not have been allowed. And a majority of voters, 51 percent, say receptions held at the governor’s mansion should not be offered to special interest groups.
Kansas Republican Party Chairman, Kris Kobach had this to say:
“We have been saying all along that Kathleen Sebelius’s priorities were out-of-step with everyday Kansans. This poll confirms it and reflects the fact that voters are now aware of what she has been doing. The people of Kansas are tired of being taken advantage of by Kathleen Sebelius and her political cronies. Whether it is spending an extraordinary amount of time outside of Kansas during an important legislative session in order to campaign for Barack Obama, using the Governor’s airplane to take lavish trips to sporting events in order to influence legislators, or using Cedar Crest to raise money for special interest groups, the people of Kansas have had it with Kathleen Sebelius.”

The Case Against Kathleen Sebelius
What a great title. Anyway...
Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post Blog, "The Fix," has an excellent read this morning--read it here.
The article brings up some interesting reasons why the Governor is not qualified to be a Vice Presidential nominee. Interesting note in the article about her extensive travel - an issue we have been discussing recently on this blog and various press and email releases. Apparently her extensive travel outside of Kansas is a sort-of resume builder.
The Governor seems like a popular pick for V.P. even though she cannot deliver her own state, brings zero credentials in national security and has largely sat by while the Republican-led legislature passed various items that she later took credit for (see school finance, tax-cuts, balancing budgets, etc.).
Good stuff from the Washington Post. It's a must read.
Cheers,

John McCain and his plan to win
Earlier this week, John McCain campaign manager Rick Davis outlined part of the McCain strategy in battleground states, and some important poll numbers. You can watch the presentation below.
Meanwhile, in the Obama camp, confusion reigns supreme. First, we have Obama saying that “We will not take a dime from Washington lobbyists or special interest PACs. We’re going to change how Washington works. They will not fund my party. They will not run our White House.” (Read about it here.)
But then the Democrat Congressional Committee (DCCC) says this, ““Unlike the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), Democratic congressional committees will continue to take money from lobbyists.” (That's here.)
Shortly thereafter, Obama sends out a fundraising email for the DCCC, “In an e-mail solicitation circulated Tuesday, Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), the presumptive Democratic nominee, invokes the name of his vanquished rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), to ask for contributions to the DCCC.” (Article.)
It seems Obama can’t have his cake and eat it too. Either he will be the candidate who doesn’t take money from “Washington lobbyists or special interest PAC’s” or he won’t be. Which is it?

Boyda's support waning
Yesterday, Nancy Boyda tried to file for office by petition, but she lacked enough signatures to get on the ballot. We had this to say:
"Today, in another signal that Nancy Boyda’s campaign is faltering, she was unable to muster enough signatures to file by petition for her re-election efforts. Instead, she had to pay the filing fee in order to get ballot access in November.
Executive Director Christian Morgan stated, “This is just a classic example of a politician whose policies are bad for the people of her district. Boyda’s inability to collect enough signatures is proof that her out-of-touch liberal politics are damaging the residents of the 2nd Congressional District.
“Whether it’s Boyda’s inability to address fuel prices that have doubled since she took office, her continuing abuse of Congressional earmarks, and her pork-barrel pet spending projects, or her numerous votes to harm the Kansas economy, the voters of Kansas are clear—Nancy Boyda is bad for the 2nd District.”
Morgan concluded, “I am confident that when November rolls around, petition signatures will be the least of Boyda’s problems as she looks for a new job.”
The NRCC echoed those comments with this statement:
Washington – In an embarrassing revelation that is sure to turn Nancy Boyda’s (D-KS) face – and possibly her district – a bright shade of ruby red, her campaign was forced to pay the Kansas Secretary of State’s office $1,672 due to her failure to cobble together enough signatures to qualify to get on the November ballot.
The Associated Press reported today:
“Congresswoman Nancy Boyda tried to file for re-election by petition, but her campaign didn't gather quite enough valid signatures. So it had to pay the full fee to the secretary of state's office. That's $1,672…
“State law requires about 2,400 signatures from registered Democrats. When the signatures were examined, the campaign had fallen short. Had the effort been successful, the state would have waived all but $20 of the fee.”
“This only confirms what we have known along, which is that Nancy Boyda lacks the basic support to even scrape up enough signatures to get on the ballot,” said NRCC Spokesman Ken Spain. “It’s simply unheard of for an incumbent Member of Congress to fail to meet the threshold of signatures needed to qualify for the ballot. Apparently voters just aren’t gravitating toward Nancy Boyda’s left-wing agenda of massive tax hikes and soaring energy costs.”
"Nancy Boyda should take inventory on her re-election campaign now that she had to pay her way onto the ballot. An incumbent member should not have any difficulty getting the signatures of 2,400 registered voters and shows an incredible vulnerability going into the fall campaign."
Whether it's a ballot bungle or refusing to support her own party's nominee for President, the 2nd District needs new leadership.

What’s the Governor trying to hide?
For regular readers of the blog, it will come as no surprise that we have made an issue out of the Governor’s travel schedule recently—particularly during the Legislative session when she was absent while the Republicans led the state on the people’s business.
In light of the fact that she is in North Carolina today raising money for Obama, we are wondering what exactly the Governor is trying to hide with the use of her plane. Keep in mind that you, the taxpayers of Kansas, fund all of this travel—you paid for the plane, the gas, the pilots, the airport fees, and the maintenance and upkeep.
Instead of being accountable to the people who elected her and are footing the bill for her excursions, she hides it. Why?
The website www.flightaware.com tracks public information on various aircraft flights, and maintains a history of it. When you put in the correct tail number for the Governor’s plane (N350KS), you get this explanation, “STATE OF KANSAS (TOPEKA KS). This flight is not available for tracking per request from the owner/operator.” Check it out for yourself.
Sometimes, businesses will keep this information secret so their competition doesn’t know where the executives are visiting. But the Governor is accountable to the people of Kansas for her activities.
We are curious, what’s the big secret?

Moore Taxes
Dennis Moore has built his tenure in Congress on one main idea—say one thing in the district, and vote a different way in Washington. This is most apparent when it comes to Moore’s votes on taxes. What’s particularly appalling is that most of these votes have happened in the last couple of months—during which Kansas families were concerned about rising fuel and food prices. The last thing families in the 3rd District need to worry about it is more money going to the government.
Moore states on his website that, “I have supported middle-class tax relief for families and individuals.”
But his record in Washington tells a very different story.
First, he voted to increase taxes on 20 million middle-class Americans by an average of $2,000 per family. (House Roll Call 1152 and 1153)
Then he voted create a new tax on private health insurance. (Roll Call No. 787)
Not only has he voted for the two largest tax increases in United States history (the most recent being $683 billion, here) it’s even worse because Moore is a member of the House Budget Committee and is one of 22 architects of the budget that paves the way for these tax increases. Read about his actions in committee here.
This middle-class tax increase would cost families in the 3rd District $2,422 a year. (Here)
It would also resurrect both the death tax and the marriage penalty tax.
Finally, Moore supports slicing the child tax-credit in half, costing middle-class families an additional $500 per child.
Moore taxes, Moore spending...bad for Kansas pocketbooks. It’s time to wake up Washington. Click here to find out how.

Moore and Boyda: How bad on taxes are they?
6/9/2008 EARMARK UPDATE:
On Monday, June 9, The Huffington Post had this to say about Boyda and her earmarks:
"Freshman Rep. Nancy Boyda, D-Kan., for example, requested 66 earmarks totaling about $172 million in the upcoming appropriations round. Last year, Boyda obtained $20.7 million in solo earmarks, along with almost $18 million more that she requested with other lawmakers."
So much for her claims of "fiscal responsibility."
Original Post:
Today, Nancy Boyda and Dennis Moore voted for a gargantuan budget that includes tax increase for middle-class American families to the tune of $2,345 for the family of four earning $40,000.
Nancy Boyda has proven over and over that she is not interested in actual fiscal responsibility. Here are some highlights of her votes over the last year and a half.
On her MySpace website, Boyda states, “I will support a rollback of...tax cuts.”
Shortly after getting elected, she held true to that promise by voting for a $400 billion tax hike. (Vote here) That was, at the time, the largest tax increase in American history.
Not to be outdone, earlier this year, Boyda voted to pave the way for an even larger tax increase, making this year’s vote the largest tax increase in American history. This time it’s to the tune of $683 billion, costing the average Kansas taxpayer an additional $2,863 in taxes next year. (Vote)
But that’s not the end of it, today she voted again for the $683 billion tax increase that hurts middle-class families the most. Investor’s Business Daily had this to say: “Make no mistake: This tax hike is gargantuan...On average, 116 million taxpayers will see a jump of $1,800 in their annual tax bill. Some 48 million married couples - the heart of the middle class that Democrats say they want to help - will be slapped with an average increase of $3,007. Even the elderly will take a hit - $2,181 on average...Quite a week's work for one Congress.” (Investor’s Business Daily, 6/4/08)
After making “wasteful spending” and “earmark” reform a major campaign issue, Boyda seemed to forget about that promise and instead voted for bill “stuffed full of pork” to the tune of $124,000,000,000. (Vote)
She then proposed over $48,000,000 of her own personal earmarks, including a museum just for convicts in Leavenworth! (Here) (This prison museum was so egregious, that CBS News did a story on it. Watch it here and here.)
But it gets even better on earmarks...
Boyda stated “The earmark process has been abused in the past. Members of Congress have set aside funds for programs that turned out to personally benefit them.” (Here)
But she has steadfastly refused to vote to open up the earmark process, which would allow the public to find out what’s really happening.
Finally, because of her liberal positions on fiscal issues, she wasn’t chosen for the “moderate” Blue Dog coalition. (While we disagree that the “Blue Dogs” are moderate, it is still embarrassing to be too liberal for a even a “moderate” Democrat group.)
Kansas families are struggling to pay for rising food and gas bills. The last thing an elected official should be doing is taking more of Kansans money.
Tomorrow: The highlights Dennis Moore’s tax blunders.

Obama: Too little experience, bad for Kansas
We released the following statement to the press this morning in light of Barack Obama becoming the presumptive Democrat nominee.
In case you missed it, Senator John McCain outlined part of his General Election strategy last night as well. Click here to get the whole story.
Kansas Republican Party Chairman Kris Kobach:
“Now that Barack Obama has secured the Democrat Party’s presidential nomination, it has become clear that many Democrats are suffering buyer's remorse. The concerns by these Democrats regarding Obama’s naïveté, fundamental lack of judgment, and failure to lead on issues that matter most to Americans will not fade. Their concerns over Obama’s thin record of accomplishments are well-documented. Whether its Obama’s misguided intentions to meet with leaders of countries that are state sponsors of terror, his inconsistencies on health care, or his $1 trillion tax increase, numerous Democrats have stated that they are concerned that Obama is not ready to be Commander in Chief.”
“Over the past year, Democrats have been attacking Obama’s virtually non-existent record, fundamental lack of judgment, and inability to lead. Even his colleagues in the Senate have drawn attention to his shortcomings. Among these Senators and colleagues, Sen. Joe Biden has stood by his statement that Obama is not ready to be Commander in Chief; Sen. Hillary Clinton has called attention to Obama’s frequent inclination to vote "present " on important issues while serving in the Illinois state Legislature; and Sen. John Edwards has echoed the sentiment that Obama was unwilling to take tough stands while in serving in Illinois.”
"Sen. McCain will prevail on Election Day because he has the experience, determination, and judgment of a true leader . I am confident that Kansas voters will reject Obama in favor of a man with the highest qualifications to serve as Commander in Chief from Day One: Sen. John McCain.”

Slattery: Concealing Facts Kansans Deserve to Know
Today, Washington lobbyist Jim Slattery filed some of the paperwork required of a U.S. Senate candidate.
Today’s filing only repeats what we already knew, that Slattery wants to go from being a Washington lobbyist to a United States Senator.
But so far Jim Slattery has refused to file the required paperwork telling us what we really need to know:
(1) How many millions of dollars has he made as a Washington lobbyist?
(2) Just what favors did he do for special interests in exchange for those millions?
Fourteen years ago, Jim Slattery stopped working for Kansas so he could enrich himself working for special interests.
How rich has he become selling his access as a former Member of Congress?
The Associated Press reported May 12th that Slattery’s lobbying firm, “earned profits per partner of $4.4 million,” in 2006 alone. In 2006, Slattery was listed as a partner in the lobbying firm Wiley Rein LLP.
However, Slattery maintained during a radio interview that on May 22nd that the figure was “inaccurate.”
Of course, we wouldn’t have to take his word for it if he would just release the financial information required of him as a Senate candidate. That information was due May 15th, but Slattery has so far refused to file it.
Also, in response to the AP story, Slattery pledged to release “a digest of what he did for each [lobbying] client.” (KC Star Buzz Blog)
His campaign said that digest would be released “soon.”
More than three weeks later, Slattery still hasn’t kept his promise.
Now, given that Jim Slattery has been a Washington lobbyist longer than he was a Congressman, it understandably takes some time to sort through all of that lobbying, all of those clients, and all of those millions of dollars.
But today we didn’t learn anything we didn’t already know—the lobbyist wants to be Senator.
What the law requires Jim Slattery to tell us is:
(1) How many millions of dollars has he made as a Washington lobbyist?
(2) Just what favors did he do for special interests in exchange for those millions?
Now that’s something Kansans deserve to know.

What you get as a Sebelius campaign contributor...
Since getting elected, the Governor has handed out untold political appointments, agency positions, and various committee seats to her large campaign contributors. Last week, the people of Kansas and the Nation found out that the “Prairie Queen” also sells Cedar Crest, the taxpayer funded Governor’s mansion, to the highest political bidder as well.
Sadly, Sebelius’s behavior has become all too common.
The Kansas Real Estate Commission
Last year, the Associated Press reported that members of the Kansas Real Estate Commission, including the Chairman, who have all together donated over $40,000 to the Governor’s campaigns, were caught in a sweetheart land deal. Read the story here.
The Kansas Board of Healing Arts
The Chairman and Executive Director resigned after a series of articles by the Topeka Capitol Journal detailing gross incompetence in the oversight of medical professionals in the State. Members of the Board of Healings Arts, the Executive Director and spouse have contributed nearly $25,000 in campaign contributions to Kathleen Sebelius over the last 12 years. Read the stories here.
Kansas Human Rights Commission
First, she nominated John Carmichael to serve as a commission on the Human Rights Commission, than she nominated him to chair it. A few months later, she withdrew his nomination for no reason—except that it was revealed that Carmichael and his wife have given over $24,000 to Democrats in Kansas since 1994—including significant amounts directly to the Governor and the Kansas Democrat Party.
Selling Cedar Crest
Last week, news came out that Sebelius hosted notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller and his staff at Cedar Crest. The Governor claims that she simply put a dinner up for auction—except records show that there was no dinner auctioned off in September 2006 for the 2007 function. It’s been reported that Tiller has given over $300,000 towards the election of Democrats in since 2004. You can read the stories here and here.
Finally, the Governor’s own admission:
“A lot of what we do at Cedar Crest is private.” (Here)
What private events are going on in the taxpayers’ home that we do not know about? How many events has the Kansas Democratic Party put on at Cedar Crest?
Important questions that the Governor needs to be asked. Except we all know she does not like to answer questions from the media as evidenced by her 1 minute, 58 seconds worth of answers she gave to media last week. See her “answers” here.
There needs to be accountability from the Governor and her office now. However, she is once again out of state attending a conference and will soon be back on the campaign trail in North Carolina for Barack Obama.
Sadly, Sebelius’s behavior has become all too common.
